HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jimmies had a strong first half, gaining a lead of 15-4 in the first five minutes and 23-9 in the next three.
- With 8:50 remaining, a Chandler Antonio dunk gave the Jimmies their biggest lead in the first at 36-16.
- The Defenders worked to come back and ended up scoring 25 more points to the Jimmies 16. The Jimmies still led 52-41 at half.
- Christian Lietz had 10 points for the Jimmies in the first half. Chandler had nine points, and Cole Woodford had eight.
- The Jimmies made 8-17 threes for 47.1% in the first. Their field goal percentage was 52.5% (21-40). They only turned the ball over twice.
- Silas Bennion started up the second half with a layup. The Defenders responded with five points to trail eight. A Jimmy Llinas dunk brought the Jimmies lead back to ten.
- In the next few minutes Bennion put up six points, Woodford had two, and Colby Vazquez hit back-to-back triples for the Jimmies to lead 70-54.
- The Defenders took off around 12:48 with a 7-0 run, forcing a Jimmie timeout. The Defenders continued their run out of the timeout and caught the Jimmies 70-70 with 7:33 to play.
- Bennion responded with seven points for the Jimmies, but the Defenders still had them tied. Back-to-back triples from Lietz and Will Cordes and two from Bennion put them up six with 1:14 to go.
- The Jimmies did not score again but only allowed two Defender points, granting them the road defeat of 85-81.
