Minot State spoils Jimmies' home finale

Jamestown, ND— The University of Jamestown Men's Basketball team faced a heartbreaking finish in their final home game of the season, falling 85-84 to the Minot State Beavers at Harold Newman Arena. Despite a season-high 32 points from Anthony Walters and an early 10-point lead, the Jimmies were unable to hold off a late Minot State surge. The result moves Jamestown to 13-14 overall and 11-10 in NSIC play.

1st Half: Jimmies Take Early Control (Jamestown leads 46-36)
Thomas Diew opened the scoring with two free throws at the 19:04 mark to give Jamestown an early lead. Anthony Walters sparked the offense early, hitting a three-pointer with 12:36 remaining to extend the lead to 18-17. Walters remained hot from distance, burying triples at the 11:04, 8:29, and 7:06 marks to push the Jimmie advantage to double digits at 35-23. Zeke Austin provided a spark off the bench, hitting a three-pointer with 4:07 left in the half to put Jamestown up 40-26. The Jimmies closed the half with a 46-36 advantage, utilizing efficient perimeter shooting to maintain control.

2nd Half: Beavers Rally Late (Minot St. wins half 49-38)
Anthony Walters continued his electrifying performance early in the second frame, throwing down a powerful dunk with 16:42 remaining to keep the Jimmies ahead 57-42. However, Minot State mounted a steady comeback, executed an incredible offensive turnaround, shooting a staggering 19-of-22 (86.36%) from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from three-point range in the second half alone. With finals seconds on the shot clock, Zeke Austin buried a clutch three-pointer with 1:57 left to pull Jamestown back to within one (80-81). Out of a Jimmies timeout, Anthony Walters gave the Jimmies a late 84-83 lead with a layup with just 18 seconds remaining. However, Minot State's Deuce Benjamin answered with a final basket to secure the 85-84 victory as time expired.
