Jamestown closes season with efficient win over Mary

Bismarck, ND— The University of Jamestown Men's Basketball team closed out their regular season on a high note, defeating the University of Mary Marauders 86-77 at the McDowell Activity Center. Behind a scorching first-half offensive display and a balanced scoring attack, the Jimmies secured their 12th NSIC win of the year. The victory brings Jamestown's final regular-season record to 14-14 overall and 12-10 in conference play.

QUARTER-BY-QUARTER FLOW (HALVES)

1st Half: Jimmies Ignite from Deep (Jamestown leads 51-29)

Thomas Diew wasted no time, opening the game with back-to-back jumpers within the first 80 seconds to give UJ a 4-2 lead. Ford Okehi sparked an early perimeter surge, knocking down a three-pointer at the 17:26 mark to extend the lead to 9-2. Anthony Walters pushed the advantage further, burying a triple with 10:36 remaining to make it 27-13.The Jimmies closed the half with a flurry of long-range shots; Zeke Austin hit back-to-back threes, followed by a Thomas Diew triple with 1:12 left to give Jamestown a commanding 51-29 lead at the break.

2nd Half: Weathering the Marauder Charge (Mary wins half 48-35)

Cole Glasgow maintained the momentum early in the second frame, converting a layup at 17:08 to keep the lead at 53-35. Owen Hektner delivered a critical blow from the perimeter, hitting a three-pointer with 14:55 left to play, extending the Jamestown cushion back to 20 points (60-40). Thomas Diew showcased his interior power with a dunk at the 10:05 mark, halting a brief Mary run and keeping the score at 67-51. Anthony Walters remained aggressive late, driving for a layup with 5:44 remaining to maintain a 13-point lead. Despite a late scoring push from the Marauders, Zeke Austin buried a dagger three-pointer with just 1:07 left on the clock to effectively seal the 86-77 victory.
