The University of Jamestown men's basketball team tied a team record by making 21 three-point field goals in a 127-82 win over Oak Hills Christian College Sunday afternoon at Harold Newman Arena.
Jamestown last made 21 threes on January 27, 2017 against Waldorf (Iowa).
Seven different Jimmies hit from downtown, led by Terrell Alfred (JR/Orlando, FL) and Kevin Oberweiser (SR/Drummond, MT), who both connected on five attempts.
The Wolfpack held a brief 5-3 lead, but Oberweiser's three-pointer put UJ ahead 6-5 and the Jimmies never looked back. Oak Hills got within three points at 18-15, but Jamestown reeled off the next nine points to push the lead to 12.
UJ finished the game shooting 61.6 percent overall (45-of-73) and 58.3 percent (21-of-36) from beyond the arc. Jamestown outrebounded Oak Hills 48-25 and had a 61-16 edge in bench scoring.
Jon Purintun (SR/Linton, ND) had a game-high 27 points and was one of five Jimmies in double figures. Oberweiser finished with 19, while Alfred had 17 off the bench. Devan Praska (FR/Thompson, ND) had a career-high 15 points in only seven minutes, and Isaiah Dobson (JR/Stillwater, MN) chipped in with 13. Jace Allard (JR/Rawlins, WY) pulled down nine rebounds, and Jack Frazier (JR/Salem, OR) and Jack Talley (SO/Sioux Falls, SD) each had five assists.
Derrick Wright led Oak Hills with 22 points.
Next up for Jamestown (4-0) is an exhibition game at MSU-Moorhead on Friday. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
