JAMESTOWN, N.D. — University of Jamestown Athletic Director Brian Mistro announced the hiring of Ben Walker as the new head coach for the Jimmie men's and women's golf programs.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome Ben back to the University of Jamestown," said Mistro. "His extensive golf knowledge, combined with his proven coaching skills and experience as a PGA professional, makes him the ideal leader for our men's and women's golf programs as we continue to compete in the NSIC."

Walker returns to his alma mater to lead the golf programs. "As a 2003 graduate, I am very excited to get back to the University of Jamestown as the head men's and women's golf coach!" Walker said. "I can't wait to be with the team and help them build their own memories of UJ."

Walker brings a wealth of instructional and leadership experience to the Jimmies, holding certifications as a Class A PGA Member, a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Certified instructor, a US Kids Golf Certified Coach, and a Proactive Coaching Certified leader.

Since August 2020, Walker has served as the Head Golf Coach and a teacher for West Fargo Public Schools. Concurrently, he has worked at Oxbow Country Club in Oxbow, North Dakota, where he develops and administers private and group lessons, manages tournaments, and serves as a PGA Jr. League Coach and administrator.

Prior to his time in West Fargo, Walker spent over a decade coaching and teaching in Idaho. He served as the Head Golf Coach and a teacher for Bonneville Joint School District #93 in Ammon, Idaho, from August 2008 to 2020. From June 2010 to August 2020, he also worked at the Idaho Falls Country Club, providing group, individual, and junior instruction, while assisting with tournament administration and pro shop operations. Walker is already familiar with the local Jamestown golf community, having previously served as the General Manager of the Jamestown Country Club from April to November 2007.

Walker earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Jamestown College in 2003. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Mary in 2006 and an Education Specialist degree from the University of Idaho in 2016.
