Hudson, Wis. – The University of Jamestown men's golf team began their season with a ninth place showing at the MSU/CSP Fall Brawl with Day 2 of the tournament wrapping up Tuesday.
In the two-day long tournament, UJ had a final score of 628 (+60) after the team shot 312 (+28) on the first day and 316 (+32) on the second day. The ninth place finish put them ahead of Upper Iowa University who had a team score of 634 (+66) and behind St. Cloud State University who shot 617 (+49).
Bodie Williams led the Jimmie golfers, shooting 77 (+6) on both days of the tournament for a total score of 154 (+12) and a share of 26
th place out of 68 golfers.
One stroke behind Williams was
Noah Law who shot 79 (+8) on Day 2 after he carded 76 (+5) on Day 1, totaling 155 (+13) strokes in a tie for 32
nd place.
Porter Seidel also carded 79 (+8) on Day 2 to finish with a total score of 157 (+15) while
Nathan Hoogsteen improved by two strokes from Day 1, shooting a round of 81 (+10) in Day 2 to finish as the final UJ scorer with 164 (+22) in his first collegiate golf tournament. Gavin Kinsley finished the two days with a final score of 167 (+25).
Brennan Weckwerth out of Concordia University St. Paul was the top finisher with a score of 141 (-1) after shooting 71 (E) on Day 2. CSP was tied with the University of Mary after the first day with both shooting 296 (+12), but the Marauders got the 2-stroke upper hand on Day 2 will a team score of 294 (+10) to win the team title over the Bears by two strokes, 590 (+22).
The Jimmies will be back on the links in Minnesota at the Jewel Golf Club for the Jewel Invitational on Monday, September 21 and Tuesday, September 22.
