JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The University of Jamestown men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Al Cassell Classic, held April 25 at the University of Jamestown.
On the men's side,
On the track, Tristan Huse led the Jimmies in the 100 meters with a fourth-place finish (11.16), followed by Conrad Baard in seventh (11.37). In the 200 meters, Jordan Kellogg-Schmidt led a deep Jimmie contingent with a first-place finish (22.02), followed by Avery Ligon in second (22.21), Xander Rath in fourth (22.58), Tristan Huse in sixth (22.82), and Conrad Baard in seventh (23.00). Cael Church added a second-place finish in the 200 meters (23.42) and a fifth-place finish in the 400 meters (51.89), while Landon Moser took fourth in the 400 meters (51.47).
In the distance events, Noah Sayler led the way in the 1500 meters with a first-place finish (4:07.83). He was followed by Aaron Devine in second (4:13.69), Payton Mukkada in third (4:14.50), David Ralios in fifth (4:17.00), Samuel Sampers in sixth (4:18.80), Landon Thompson in eighth (4:22.44), Lucas Dahl in ninth (4:24.49), and Jonathan Aguirre in 10th (4:26.26). Kadin Marshall added a sixth-place finish in the 5000 meters (16:23.75). In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Braeden Kinzler took first (9:58.56), followed by Clark Lortscher in second (9:59.30) and Adam Sobolik in third (10:43.50).
Jamestown also recorded a victory in the 4x100-meter relay, as the team of Avery Ligon, Xander Rath, Tristan Huse, and Jordan Kellogg-Schmidt placed first with a time of 42.30.
In the field events, Ethan Duval won the high jump by clearing 2.03 meters, while Ethan Lieb placed second (1.83 meters). Brady Crabtree secured a first-place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 4.50 meters. In the horizontal jumps, Ashton Judge won the long jump (6.75 meters), followed by Matthew Hoppe in second (6.69 meters), Jayden Bittner in third (6.66 meters), and Trevor Waldo in fourth (6.52 meters). Liam Horner added a first-place finish in the triple jump (12.25 meters).
In the throws, Jobe Rystedt placed second in the shot put (15.31 meters), followed by Evan Schmit in third (14.81 meters). Kobe Irmen led the Jimmies in the discus with a second-place finish (44.03 meters), while Schmit placed fifth (39.27 meters) and Rystedt finished seventh (35.22 meters). In the hammer throw, Evan Schmit took first (50.17 meters), followed by Kobe Irmen in second (44.24 meters) and Jobe Rystedt in fifth (42.56 meters). Gunnar Majerus won the javelin with a mark of 54.32 meters, while Kobe Irmen placed fourth (44.54 meters).
On the women's side,
On the track, Saige Gustafson swept the short sprints, winning both the 100 meters (12.31) and the 200 meters (25.54). Madalyn Neumann added a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.12). In the 800 meters, Greta Goven took first place (2:21.58), followed by Allyson Goodmanson in second (2:22.66). Hallie Person led the Jimmies in the 1500 meters with a first-place finish (4:56.39), with Kirsten Vander Kooi in third (5:00.55) and Kari Patterson in fifth (5:13.72). Lydia Franson won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:46.93.
In the field events, Madalyn Neumann and Allie Berns competed in the high jump, with Neumann clearing 1.54 meters to place second. Ruth Harris placed third in the pole vault, clearing 3.31 meters. In the horizontal jumps, Sydney Ulrich won the long jump (5.41 meters), followed by Monica Goven in second (5.19 meters) and Cambrie Fischer in third (5.01 meters). Meryssa Price led the triple jump with a second-place finish (10.82 meters), followed by Ruth Harris in third (10.70 meters), Monica Goven in fourth (10.44 meters), and Sydney Ulrich in fifth (9.88 meters).
The throws were highlighted by Brenna Held, who won the shot put (12.69 meters) and placed second in both the discus (37.20 meters) and hammer throw (48.59 meters). Makenzie Gibson won the hammer throw (48.59 meters) and placed 11th in the discus (26.74 meters). Koiline Govergo finished eighth in the shot put (10.74 meters) and 13th in the discus. Jecelyn Arends added a 12th-place finish in the shot put (9.92 meters) and competed in the hammer throw. In the javelin, Cambrie Fischer secured a third-place finish with a mark of 37.85 meters.
