MINNEAPOLIS, MN. – The University of Jamestown men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Gary Wilson Invitational, held April 22, 2026, at the University of Minnesota.
On the men's side,
On the track, Avery Ligon led the Jimmies in the sprints with a time of 22.01 in the 200 meters. Conrad Baard also competed in the 200 meters, finishing in 23.00. In the 400 meters, Landon Moser placed 14th (51.38) while Cael Church finished 22nd (52.33).
In the distance and middle-distance events, David Ralios placed eighth in the 1500 meters (4:19.01) and 50th in the 800 meters (2:04.94). Adam Sobolik followed in the 1500 meters with a 10th-place finish (4:23.95). In the 5000 meters, Samuel Sampers led the Jimmies with a first-place finish in his section (16:30.26), followed by Payton Mukkada in fifth (16:54.37), Landon Thompson in sixth (17:01.68), and Owen Rohr in seventh (17:11.26). Additional strong performances in a separate 5000-meter section included Clark Lortscher (15:36.33), Aaron Devine (15:46.33), Braeden Kinzler (15:52.00), and Noah Sayler (16:01.89). Cole Campbell represented Jamestown in the 3000-meter steeplechase, placing 12th (10:08.66).
Jamestown also recorded a strong performance in the 4x100-meter relay, as the team of Avery Ligon, Xander Rath, Tristan Huse, and Jordan Kellogg-Schmidt placed fourth with a time of 42.58.
In the field events, Ashton Judge delivered a top performance with a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.46m. Matthew Hoppe placed 15th (6.68m) and Trevor Waldo finished 18th (6.60m) in the same event. In the high jump, Riley Johnson and Liam Horner both recorded no height (NH).
In the throws, Jobe Rystedt placed third in the shot put (15.60m), followed by Evan Schmit in ninth (14.94m). Kobe Irmen led the Jimmies in the discus with an 11th-place finish (43.92m). In the javelin, Gunnar Majerus turned in one of the top performances of the meet with a fifth-place finish (56.47m).
On the women's side,
On the track, Saige Gustafson led the Jimmies in the sprints, placing 36th in the 100-meter preliminaries with a time of 12.49. In the middle-distance events, Kirsten Vander Kooi finished 35th in the 800 meters (2:28.49), while Greta Goven finished 36th (2:28.53). Goven also highlighted the distance events with an eighth-place finish in the 1500 meters (5:06.09). Kari Patterson added a 20th-place finish in the 1500 meters (5:22.60).
In the 5000 meters, Lydia Franson led the way with a second-place finish (17:46.93), while Hallie Person finished sixth (18:25.20). Madalyn Neumann competed in the 400-meter hurdles, placing 37th (1:14.74).
In the horizontal jumps, Sydney Ulrich placed 20th in the long jump (5.13m). In the triple jump, Ruth Harris recorded a 14th-place finish (10.72m).
The throws were highlighted by Brenna Held, who placed 20th in the shot put with a mark of 11.89m. In the javelin, Cambrie Fischer turned in one of the top performances of the meet for Jamestown with a fourth-place finish (40.34m).
