GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of Jamestown men's and women's track and field teams turned in several top-10 performances at the UND Open and Multi, hosted by the University of North Dakota at the Fritz Pollard Athletic Center on Friday and Saturday.
Women's Highlights
The Jimmie women were led by a pair of runner-up finishes in the distance events. Freshman
Greta Goven placed second in the 1000 meters, crossing the line in 3:04.45. In the 3000 meters, freshman
Hallie Person also took second place with a time of 10:29.13. She was joined in the top eight by freshman
Annabelle LaFary, who finished sixth in 10:38.28.
In the mile, freshman
Lydia Franson ran a time of 5:01.41 to secure a seventh-place finish.
In the field events, senior
Quinn Bassingthwaite placed ninth in the pole vault, clearing 3.18 meters (10 feet, 5.25 inches). Sophomore
Ruth Harris added a top-10 finish in the triple jump, leaping 10.47 meters (34 feet, 4.25 inches) to place 10th.
Men's Highlights
Junior
Ashton Judge highlighted the men's field events with a podium finish in the long jump. Judge placed third with a mark of 7.10 meters (23 feet, 3.5 inches).
The throws crew saw three athletes finish in the top 10 across two events. Sophomore
Jobe Rystedt placed eighth in the shot put with a toss of 15.49 meters (50 feet, 10 inches). In the discus, sophomore
Ethan Halverson took ninth with a throw of 45.72 meters (150 feet).
Freshman
Brady Crabtree cleared 4.12 meters (13 feet, 6.25 inches) in the pole vault to finish eighth.
On the track, freshman
Noah Sayler led the Jimmies in the mile, finishing 32nd with a time of 4:24.96. In the sprints, sophomore
Avery Ligon clocked a 7.23 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries.
