Jimmies competes at NDSU Spring Classic in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. – The University of Jamestown men's track and field team competed at the NDSU Spring Classic, held April 11–13 at North Dakota State University.


On the mens side, 

On the track, Avery Ligon led the Jimmies in the sprints with a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters (10.96) and added a 10th-place finish in the 200 meters (22.63). Jordan Kellogg-Schmidt placed 14th in the 100 meters (11.16), followed by Xander Rath in 19th (11.31) and Conrad Baard in 26th (11.59). Baard also placed 19th in the 200 meters (23.06).

In the 400 meters, Cael Church finished seventh (52.15) and later added a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (59.46). In the middle-distance events, Noah Sayler led the way with an 11th-place finish in the 800 meters (1:59.31) and a seventh-place finish in the 1500 meters (4:06.22). Aaron Devine placed 10th in the 1500 meters (4:10.48), while Adam Sobolik finished 16th (4:19.21) and Landon Thompson took 19th (4:20.76).

Additional finishes in the 1500 meters included Kadin Marshall (20th, 4:26.29), Payton Mukkada (21st, 4:28.11), Jonathan Aguirre (23rd, 4:30.85), and Logan Robben (26th, 4:52.86). In the 800 meters, David Ralios placed 19th (2:05.00) and Payton Mukkada finished 34th (2:13.27).

In the steeplechase, Braeden Kinzler led the Jimmies with a sixth-place finish (9:51.73), followed by Clark Lortscher in eighth (10:00.13) and Lucas Dahl in 10th (11:05.06).

Jamestown also recorded a strong performance in the 4x100-meter relay, as the team of Jordan Kellogg-Schmidt, Xander Rath, Cael Church, and Avery Ligon placed third with a time of 42.67.

In the field events, Ethan Duval cleared 2.00 meters to place third in the high jump, while Liam Horner finished seventh (1.90 meters) and Ethan Lieb placed ninth (1.85 meters).

Ashton Judge delivered the top field performance for the Jimmies, winning the long jump with a mark of 7.11 meters. Matthew Hoppe added an 11th-place finish (6.17 meters).

In the throws, Jobe Rystedt placed eighth in the shot put (15.21 meters), followed by Evan Schmit in 13th (13.90 meters) and Kobe Irmen in 20th (12.33 meters). Irmen also led the Jimmies in the discus with an eighth-place finish (43.45 meters), while Schmit placed 11th (41.38 meters) and Rystedt finished 13th (40.34 meters).

In the hammer throw, Kobe Irmen placed 17th (42.50 meters), Evan Schmit finished 19th (41.13 meters), and Jobe Rystedt took 27th (35.35 meters).

In the javelin, Gunnar Majerus turned in one of the top performances of the meet with a third-place finish (54.01 meters).

On the women's side, 

On the track, Saige Gustafson led the Jimmies in the sprints, placing 10th in the 100 meters (12.41) and eighth in the 200 meters (25.81). In the middle-distance events, Lydia Franson recorded a 10th-place finish in the 800 meters (2:20.45) and highlighted the meet with a first-place finish in the 1500 meters (4:41.26). Allyson Goodmanson added a sixth-place finish in the 1500 meters (4:48.37), while Kirsten Vander Kooi placed 14th (5:06.60).

In the steeplechase, the Jimmies placed three runners in the top seven, led by Hallie Person in fifth (11:52.05), followed by Lilly Petty in sixth (12:01.67) and Greta Goven in seventh (12:13.27).

In the field events, Allie Berns and Madalyn Neumann each cleared 1.50 meters in the high jump, finishing sixth and ninth, respectively. In the pole vault, Quinn Bassingthwaite led the way with a ninth-place finish (3.35 meters), while Ruth Harris followed in 10th (3.20 meters).

In the horizontal jumps, Sydney Ulrich placed 13th in the long jump (4.85 meters), with Monica Goven finishing 18th (4.62 meters). In the triple jump, Ruth Harris recorded an eighth-place finish (10.90 meters).

The throws were highlighted by Brenna Held, who placed ninth in the shot put (12.55 meters) and added a 16th-place finish in the hammer throw (43.69 meters). Makenzie Gibson delivered strong performances in both the discus and hammer, placing 13th in the discus (37.76 meters) and 12th in the hammer (47.23 meters). Koiline Govergo finished 18th in the shot put (11.21 meters) and 33rd in the discus (27.91 meters), while Jecelyn Arends placed 27th in the shot put (9.94 meters) and 27th in the hammer (35.89 meters).

In the javelin, Cambrie Fischer turned in one of the top performances of the meet for Jamestown with a fifth-place finish (38.68 meters), while Emily Erhardt placed 13th (30.77 meters).
