FARGO, N.D. — The University of Jamestown men's track and field team competed at the NDSU Open on February 6–7 at the Bison Sports Arena, turning in strong performances across the sprints, middle distance, distance, and field events.
In the sprints, Jordan Kellogg-Schmidt led the Jimmies in the 60 meters with a time of 7.13 before following up with a 23.02 in the 200 meters. Avery Ligon recorded a 7.22 in the 60 and ran 23.53 in the 200, while Xander Rath posted times of 7.27 and 23.55. Tristan Huse finished the 60 in 7.32 and clocked 23.90 in the 200, and Conrad Baard ran 7.45 in the 60 meters and 23.55 in the 200.
In the 400 meters, Landon Moser paced Jamestown with a time of 51.66. Cael Church followed in 52.90, while Conrad Baard finished in 55.04. Church also competed in the 300 meters, recording a time of 37.62.
The middle-distance group was led by Adam Sobolik, who ran 2:01.64 in the 800 meters and 2:42.47 in the 1,000 meters. Lucas Dahl followed with times of 2:03.24 in the 800 and 2:44.42 in the 1,000, while Samuel Sampers posted marks of 2:07.13 and 2:46.88. Additional performances in the 800 came from Logan Robben, who ran 2:13.40. In the 1,000 meters, Kadin Marshall finished in 2:49.58, Landon Thompson ran 2:50.61, and Jonathan Aguirre crossed the line in 3:01.27.
In the mile, Landon Thompson led Jamestown with a time of 4:52.71. Kadin Marshall followed at 5:00.43, while Liam Pospisil finished in 5:10.74.
The distance runners delivered a strong showing in the 3,000 meters, led by Noah Sayler, who ran 8:58.63. Cole Campbell followed closely with a time of 9:01.23. Aaron Devine clocked 9:03.28, Braeden Kinzler finished in 9:05.98, Clark Lortscher ran 9:12.46, and David Ralios recorded a time of 9:27.96.
In the field events, Ethan Duval led the high jump group with a clearance of 1.94 meters (6 feet, 4.25 inches). Ethan Lieb cleared 1.89 meters, while Riley Johnson posted a mark of 1.84 meters. In the pole vault, Brady Crabtree highlighted the day by clearing 4.55 meters (14 feet, 11 inches).
Jamestown also found success in the horizontal jumps, as Trevor Waldo recorded a top long jump of 6.63 meters (21 feet, 9 inches). Matthew Hoppe followed with a jump of 6.56 meters (21 feet, 6.25 inches), while Jayden Bittner added a mark of 5.80 meters (19 feet, 0.5 inches).
In the throws, Jobe Rystedt led the shot put with a throw of 15.59 meters (51 feet, 1.75 inches). Ethan Halverson followed at 14.61 meters (47 feet, 11.25 inches), and Evan Schmit recorded a mark of 14.58 meters (47 feet, 10 inches). Kobe Irmen finished with a throw of 11.93 meters (39 feet, 1.75 inches). In the weight throw, Evan Schmit posted the top Jamestown mark at 14.98 meters (49 feet, 1.75 inches), while Kobe Irmen, Jobe Rystedt, and Ethan Halverson recorded marks of 13.12 meters, 12.48 meters, and 11.90 meters.
The Jimmies will look to build on these performances as the indoor season continues as they travel to Brookings, SD for the SDSU Classic.
