COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — The University of Jamestown track and field teams continued their indoor season on February 14 at the CSB / SJU Valentine's Day Open, hosted at the Saint John's U–McNeely Spectrum. Competing against a strong field, the Jimmies turned in several notable performances across the vertical and horizontal jumps.
Jamestown saw success early in the high jump, where multiple athletes recorded strong clearances. Liam Horner and Riley Johnson led the way after each clearing 1.88 metres (6'2"), finishing tied for fourth place and contributing valuable points to the team total. Freshman Joseph Bird also represented Jamestown in the event, recording a clearance of 1.73 metres (5'8") to finish 11th overall.
The Jimmies continued to find success on the women's side of the high jump, highlighted by a podium finish from Madalyn Neumann. Neumann cleared 1.56 metres (5'1.25") to secure third place and add six points to the team score.
Strong performances followed in the horizontal jumps, where Cambrie Fischer and Sydney Ulrich competed in both the triple jump and long jump. Fischer recorded a mark of 9.87 metres (32'4.75") in the triple jump to earn a fourth-place finish, while Ulrich followed closely behind in sixth with a jump of 9.38 metres (30'9.25"). The duo also turned in solid results in the long jump, with Ulrich placing eighth after reaching 4.89 metres (16'0.5") and Fischer finishing ninth with a mark of 4.83 metres (15'10.25").
The Jimmies will return to action on February 21 at the Marauders Tune-Up in Bismarck, North Dakota.
