Women's Soccer Game Preview: Jimmies Take Winning Streak Down to USF Friday

Sioux Falls, S.D. – The University of Jamestown women's soccer team will take their three-game winning streak into a road contest against the Sioux Falls Cougars Friday night.

Jamestown enters the crucial matchup with the Cougars at 4-4-1 and 4-2-0 in the NSIC. The Jimmies under veteran head coach Nick Becker have shown drastic improvement from a season ago in which they only had two wins and finished 13th in the conference. With 12 points, UJ currently sits all alone at fifth in the conference.
 
In the last time out, the Jimmies beat Minnesota Crookston 2-1. Julliet Lopez stayed hot with a goal in the 26th minute, though the Golden Eagles evened the score early in the second half in the 49th minute. Gaby Lopez had the game-winner in the 66th minute which was the first-career goal for the sophomore. Taylor Musser made three saves on four shots en route to her third win.
 
Julliet Lopez and Bre Oettle are the offensive catalysts for the Jimmies thus far. Lopez ranks in a tie for fifth place in the NSIC with four goals on the season. The California native has been especially impressive as of late with a goal in four of her last six games. Oettle added her third assist of the season against Crookston last game with this number putting the senior in a tie for fourth in the Northern Sun. The freshman backstop Musser has gotten better and better as the season has progressed, allowing just two goals on 15 shots in the past three games. For the season, she owns a 1.74 goals-against average and a .776 save percentage.
 
Sioux Falls heads into the game with the Jimmies at 3-3-3 overall with one win, two losses, and three ties across their six Northern Sun contests so far. The Cougars have tallied six points in the standings and are 11th in the conference.
 
USF tied 2-2 with St. Cloud State on the road in their most recent game on Sunday. The Cougars opened the scoring off a penalty kick in the 37th minute then only four minutes later, they doubled their lead in the 41st minute. However, the Huskies scored late in the first half, then leveled the score in the 55th minute.
 
Abby Flanagan scored the penalty kick goal for Sioux Falls while Lily Dalher notched her first goal of the season in the draw. USF goalkeeper Delhani Daubman made four saves on six shots faced. The Huskies outshot the Cougars 19-7, but only won shots on goal 6-5.
 
In 2025, Sioux Falls went 6-10-2 overall with a record of 4-9-2 in the NSIC. They finished in 12th place and were selected to finish in 12th place again in the 2026 NSIC Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll.
 
Chloe Wilson, Flanagan, and Addison VanZee have all found the back of the net twice for the Cougars. VanZee pours on a average of 3.43 shots per game which ranks sixth in the conference. Wilson and Dalher are tied for the team lead in points with each posting five so far. Dalher has now registered a goal and three assists in her 2026 action. In net, Daubman owns a 1.40 goals-against average and a .788 save percentage.   
 
Historical Matchups
 
Last season the Jimmies and Cougars battled for the first time since 2009. The first NSIC matchup ever between the two schools resulted in a 2-0 victory for the Cougars at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium. The game was scoreless heading into halftime despite Sioux Falls outshooting the Jimmies 11-2. However, a goal by USF in the 70th minute and another in the 75th minute sent the Jimmies to defeat at home. Total shots were 21-6 Cougars with shots on net at 6-4.
