Jamestown, N.D. - The University of Jamestown women's soccer team will have a tough test on Homecoming weekend in Jamestown when they will host their I-94 rivals, the University of Mary, on Friday, October 9 at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium. Â
The Jimmies will enter the homecoming weekend home contest against the Marauders with a record of 4-4-3 overall and 4-2-2 in the NSIC. After five straight games without a defeat, UJ's point total for the season sits at 14 as they have now surpassed the halfway point of the NSIC conference season. Jamestown is tied with Bemidji State for sixth place in the Northern Sun. Â
The Jimmies are coming off a road trip in which they played at the University of Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State University, each resulting in a draw. This past Sunday against the Mustangs, Jamestown fell behind twice but was able to score an equalizing goal on two occasions to knot the final score at 2-2. Â
In the Sunday game, Marisa Brown scored her first-career goal in the 36th minute, then Kyah Gabel added a tally in the 67th minute. Langley Grow and Oriana Borrome each posted an assist in Marshall while Taylor Musser made two saves in the tie game. Jamestown held a 14-5 edge in total shots and an 8-4 edge in shots on net. Â
Julliet Lopez and Bre Oettle continue to lead the Jimmies offensively with Lopez top 10 in the conference with four goals and Oettle top 10 with three assists. Gabel notched her second goal of the season last game against the Mustangs while Borrome joins Lopez and Oettle as the only Jimmies with multiple assists on the season. Holding down the pipes is Musser who has posted a .789 save percentage and a 1.69 goals-against average through her 10 games of action. Â
UMary has looked fantastic through their 11 games with an overall record of 6-2-3 and is currently in a tie for second in the NSIC with 17 points and a conference record of 5-1-2. The Marauders have beat two of the best teams in the conference already in Concordia – St. Paul and Minnesota Duluth. Â
Back on Sunday, UMary played Wayne State College to a 1-1 draw down in Nebraska. After a scoreless first half in which the Marauders outshot WSC 8-1, the Wildcats got the first goal in the 69th minute. However, Wayne State committed a foul in their box and Dina Polanco cashed in a penalty kick for the Marauders to even the score in the 77th minute. Â
The draw snapped a five-game winning streak for UMary. Goalkeeper Kadyn Dilger made two saves with the Marauders winning the shots on goal 8-3 and total shots in the contest at 18-5. Â
UMary finished last season with a record of 8-7-4 while going 6-5-4 in the Northern Sun. They earned a birth in the conference tournament as they finished in a tie for seventh, though their season ended at the hands of No. 1 seed Minnesota State University in the quarterfinal round. The Marauders were selected to improve up to sixth in the 2026 NSIC Preseason Poll. Â
The UMary 2026 squad has been an offensive force with their goals per game (1.5), assists per game (1.2), and points per game (4.3) all ranking inside of the top five in the conference.  Â
Polanco has looked like an early Offensive Player of the Year candidate. The sophomore from Guatemala leads the Northern Sun with 10 goals and 22 points in addition to topping all players with 4.45 shots per game and 2.55 shots on goal per contest. The 10 goals account for over half the team total and put her in a tie for seventh nationally. Four game-winning goals rank her in a share of fifth nationally. Â
Chloe Brand is another key contributor as she has four assists on the season, claiming a share of second place in the conference in that category. Both Bella Kozlowski and Liilian Schatz have found the back of the net twice this season. Â
Dilger has played and started in 10 games as the UMary goaltender and has very strong numbers of a .773 save percentage, a 1.05 goals-against average, and four clean sheets. Â
It was a fairly one-sided matchup between the two teams last season in Bismarck where the Marauders roughed up the Jimmies 5-0. Shots in the contest were 33-4 while shots on net finished at 12-2. UMary had a whopping 17 corner kick chances in the battle, and UJ got none. Â
The Jimmies and Marauders clashed in women's soccer on two other occasions back in 2006. The first matchup resulted in a 5-0 loss for UJ away from home but the other was a 2-2 tie in Jamestown. Â
Following the game against the Marauders, the Jimmies will return to action two days later on Sunday, October 11 as they play the Minot State Beavers for the second time in 2026 up in Northwestern North Dakota. Â
