Aberdeen, S.D. – The University of Jamestown women's soccer team completed their 2026 season Thursday afternoon as they fell by a score of 2-0 to the Northern State University Wolves 100 miles south of Jamestown Thursday night.
UJ finishes their 18-game 2026 campaign with a 4-10-4 record overall while going 4-8-3 in the Northern Sun to finish with a share of 11
th place in the conference standings. The Wolves finish their regular season 10-4-3 and 9-3-3 in the NSIC. Northern State's will continue playing as they earn the No. 4 seed in the NSIC playoffs and will host Concordia University St. Paul in the NSIC Tournament Quarterfinal.
Early in the contest, the Jimmies got deep into the NSU end a couple of times but were never able to get any shots off.
Into the 12
th minute, a centering pass by Wolves led to a wide-open player up the middle of the field who appeared to have scored on
Taylor Musser, but she was whistled offside and the game remained scoreless.
Jamestown pressured right after this, but a couple of passes were just a hair too far, and the ball went out of bounds for goal kicks as a result.
About halfway through the first half, a Wolf got deep into the corner, then crossed it right at the six-yard box, but the resulting Northern State one-timer was right at Musser for the hard shot but not super difficult save. NSU was outshooting UJ 5-0 at this point of the contest.
After fending off a few more chances by the Wolves, Jamestown had some nice time of possession which worked its way into a corner kick. Off the corner kick, there was a long battle for possession right in front of the Wolves net, eventually coming to
Marisa Brown. Brown ripped a hard shot from only about 10 yards out, but there were several players between her and the goal and the shot was blocked.
Not long after, Northern State got on the board after several shot attempts resulted in nothing. In the 44
th minute, a cross from the right corner of the box was centered right in front of Musser, but this time the freshman goaltender could not get to it in time. Deshani Peters got a foot on the ball midair and scored a nice goal high left to get the Wolves on the board.
Halftime came around just a bit over a minute later with the home team ahead 1-0. Brown's shot was the only shot of the period for the Jimmies with NSU logging nine shots, five on goal.
The majority of the second half was played around midfield as there were only four shots total between the two teams. In the 56
th minute, there was a high danger shot from the Wolves that struck the crossbar but nothing Musser had to save.
Jamestown's second shot attempt of the game came in the 64
th minute, this one outside the Northern State box from
Vega Canada, which was a hard strike, but right at goalkeeper Audrey Burns for the save.
With under four minutes remaining, the Wolves got their second goal of the game, this scored by Jaylee Hofer and assisted by Lauren Youngquist.
Canada had another look on net in the 88
th minute, but to no avail as this shot went high of the net. The final score wrapped up 2-0 down in Aberdeen.
Canada's shot on goal was the only look on net in the contest for the Jimmies. Musser made four saves in the loss. Final shot attempts finished 11-3 Northern State and 6-1 on goal. NSU also won corner kicks 7-1.
