BISMARCK, N.D. – The University of Jamestown men's track and field team produced a pair of top-tier marks at the UMary Winter Classic on Saturday, highlighted by a victory in the long jump from
Ashton Judge and a personal best in the pole vault from
Brady Crabtree.
Judge took home the title in the long jump with a leap of 7.17 meters (23 feet, 6.25 inches). The mark was a season best for the junior and currently ranks as the No. 23 mark in NCAA Division II.
In the pole vault, sophomore Crabtree cleared a personal-best height of 4.48 meters (14 feet, 8.25 inches) to place fifth.
The Jimmies placed two throwers in the top eight of the shot put. Sophomore
Jobe Rystedt finished fifth with a season-best toss of 14.84 meters (48 feet, 8.25 inches). He was followed by
Evan Schmit in seventh place with a mark of 14.62 meters (47 feet, 11.75 inches).
In the weight throw, both
Ethan Halverson (13.83 meters) and Rystedt (12.52 meters) recorded personal bests. Halverson broke his previous personal record by 0.98 meters.
The mile run saw a trio of personal records for UJ.
Braeden Kinzler led the way, placing sixth in a time of 4:30.80. Freshman
Noah Sayler followed closely in seventh at 4:31.15. Both runners set new personal bests and earned points for the team.
Aaron Devine also clocked a PR of 4:36.08 to finish 10th.
On the track, the 4x400 meter relay team of
Cael Church, Sayler,
Gavyn Graham, and
Adam Sobolik ran a season-best time of 3:33.37 to place sixth.
Individually, Church ran a season-best 52.79 in the 400 meters to take ninth. In the 60-meter dash,
Avery Ligon ran a season-best 7.16 , while
Andrew Rexin set a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.57.
The Jimmie women owned the top of the leaderboard in the mile, placing four runners in the top five. Freshman
Lydia Franson won the event with a personal-best time of 5 minutes, 10.82 seconds, ranking her sixth on the Jimmies' all-time top 10 list.
Following Franson were
Hallie Person in third (5:22.66) and
Annabelle LaFary in fourth with a personal-best time of 5:22.97.
Greta Goven rounded out the scoring group in fifth place (5:25.13). Also recording personal bests in the mile were
Kirsten Vander Kooi (5:33.65) and
Lilly Petty (5:38.31).
In the 60-meter dash,
Saige Gustafson placed fifth with a time of 7.98 seconds after qualifying with a time of 8.00. Her time of 7.98 ranks sixth on the Jimmies' all-time top 10 list.
The 4x400 meter relay team of LaFary, Franson,
Madalyn Neumann, and
Greta Goven finished fourth with a season-best time of 4:24.90. In the open 400 meters, Neumann ran a season-best 1:06.30 to place 12th.
Ruth Harris cleared a personal-best height of 3.30 meters (10 feet, 10 inches) to place fifth in the pole vault.
In the triple jump,
Meryssa Price set a personal best of 10.38 meters (34 feet, 0.75 inches) to finish sixth. Harris added an eighth-place finish with a season-best mark of 10.30 meters (33 feet, 9.5 inches), followed by
Monica Goven in ninth with a season-best leap of 10.27 meters.
Brenna Held led the Jimmie throwers with a fifth-place finish in the shot put, recording a mark of 12.36 meters (40 feet, 6.75 inches). Freshman
Jecelyn Arends set a personal best in the event with a toss of 11.05 meters (36 feet, 3 inches). Held also placed ninth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.25 meters.
