FREMONT, Neb. – The sixth-ranked University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 men's hockey team was unable to complete the weekend sweep, falling 8-1 to Midland University on Saturday night at Sidner Ice Arena. The loss moves Jamestown's season record to 15-8-0.

Despite outshooting the Warriors 45-38 in the contest, the Jimmies struggled to solve Midland goaltender Elijah Marchese, who made 44 saves to anchor his team's victory.
Midland jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and extended the advantage to 4-0 through forty minutes of play. The Warriors' offense was led by John Dube, Hugo Lukacovic, and Karl Grafelman, who all found the back of the net in the contest.
Jamestown broke the shutout early in the third period. Lasse Richert scored his second goal of the season at the 1:01 mark, assisted by Leo Milan and Parker McInroy, cutting the deficit to 4-1. However, Midland responded with four unanswered goals in the final frame to seal the 8-1 decision.

Brandon Weare started the game and made 22 saves on 28 shots in 42:02 of action.
Jordan Lott played the final 17:58 in relief, stopping 8 of the 10 shots he faced.
Jamestown struggled on special teams, finishing 0-for-4 on the power play, while Midland converted on 2 of their 7 opportunities. The game was a physical affair, with the Jimmies totaling 26 penalty minutes to Midland's 20.
The loss splits the weekend series, following Jamestown's 2-1 victory over Midland on Friday night. UJ returns to the ice January 23 at home against University of Mary.
