BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The University of Jamestown women's basketball team was picked to finish 15th overall and eighth in the north division in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference coaches' preseason poll released on Thursday.

Minnesota State University, Mankato was selected by the league coaches as the preseason overall favorite and in the south division in the NSIC for the 2025-26 season. The Mavericks received 215 points, garnering eight first places votes to sit 13 points ahead of second place Concordia-St. Paul and Sioux Falls. The Golden Bears received four first place votes while the Cougars had three to both sit at 202 points.  Southwest Minnesota State was fourth with 172 points while St. Cloud State was fifth with 155 points and a first place vote.  
MSU Moorhead was the coaches' choice in the north division as they amassed 43 points and three first place votes.  Minnesota State received six first place votes in the south division with 48 points. 

"Our team is awesome," said head coach Thad Sankey. "We have great energy and excitement for the upcoming season. Our players are showing a lot of ownership to grow our team and program. Our team is working hard early in the year and looking forward to practices and games!"

Jessika Lofstrom was picked as the Jimmies' player to watch for the 2025-26 season.

"Jess is ready to have a great sophomore season," Sankey said. "She was our second-leading scorer last year as a freshman and helped win games with her scoring and rebounding effort. Jess has done great work over the summer and preseason and is growing into a leader on our team."

The Jimmies begin the season on November 14th at home against Dickinson State (N.D.) and play their NSIC opener November 25 at Northern State (S.D.) University.
