CRETE, Neb.— The University of Jamestown baseball team won a pair of games on Friday to advance to Saturday's pod championship game against Doane (Neb.), defeating Morningside (Iowa) 4-3 and Northwestern (Iowa) 3-1.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

• Riki Okamoto was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth to drive in the winning run in a 4-3 victory over Morningside.
• Jett Nelson singled with one out, then Julian Sansores was hit by a pitch. Pinch-hitter Varen Sabino loaded the bases after singling to left, setting the stage for Okamoto.
• The Mustangs had tied the game 3-3 in the top of the ninth on a squeeze bunt by Cade Nolan.
• Jordan Singleton drove in UJ's first run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first, then extended the lead to 2-0 with a single in the third that scored Alex Alva.
• Morningside scored once in the fourth and again in the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.
• With Isaiah Roebuck on second and two out in the bottom of the seventh, Chase  Burke reached on an error, allowing Roebuck to score the go-ahead run.
• Hayden Brown (1-1) was the winning pitcher in relief.
• Singleton (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Nelson (2-for-4, 1 R) had multiple hits for UJ.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

• The Jimmies opened a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth against Northwestern on Jett Nelson's two-out double.
• Chase Burke singled in Isaiah Roebuck in the fifth as UJ went ahead 3-0.
• Northwestern got on the board with a run in the sixth, and had the bases loaded with two out before Ethan Petty struck out pinch-hitter Bryce Click to end the threat.
• Hayden Brown got the final three outs to record his sixth save, preserving the win for Luke Zimmer (5-3). Zimmer allowed an unearned run on five hits over 5 2/3 innings, striking out two and walking one.
• Burke went 2-for-3 at the plate and Ryan Muizelaar doubled for the only Jimmie extra-base hit.

• Jamestown takes on Doane at noon on Saturday, needing to defeat the Tigers twice to advance to the GPAC championship game.
