BISMARCK, N.D. – The University of Jamestown baseball team delivered a commanding 11-1 victory over Bismarck State College on Wednesday afternoon at Haaland Field. The Jimmies (6-19) combined a potent offensive attack with a dominant pitching performance to secure the road win.
Game Summary
Jamestown wasted no time getting on the board, striking in the top of the first inning. After
Mathieu Morin drew a leadoff walk and stole second,
Ben Swennumson laced an RBI single to right-center, scoring Morin to give the Jimmies a 1-0 lead.
The Jimmies extended their advantage in the second inning. With two outs and two runners on,
Frankie Malagon crushed a two-run double to left field, bringing home
Reese Logsdon and
Ben Patton to make it 3-0.
The offensive onslaught continued in the third frame. Morin delivered a clutch two-run single, scoring
Grant Chapman and Swennumson. Later in the inning,
Trayson Kostial drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Morin, pushing the lead to 7-0.
UJ added to their tally in the sixth. Chapman ripped an RBI single to right field, scoring
Jett Nelson to increase the margin to 8-0.
The Jimmies continued to apply pressure in the seventh inning, scoring two runs without the ball leaving the infield. Chapman was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Kostial, and Logsdon followed with a bases-loaded walk to bring home Swennumson, extending the lead to 10-0.
Bismarck State finally managed to scratch across a run in the bottom of the seventh. A fielder's choice by pinch-hitter Caleb Gimbel, coupled with a throwing error, allowed Bryson Mohs to score.
UJ capped off the scoring in the top of the ninth when pinch-hitter
Melvin Maldonado ripped an RBI single to right field, scoring
Mason Shea to finalize the score at 11-1.

Payton Hochhalter started the game for Jamestown, tossing four scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out four.
Elias Harris (1-1) earned the win in relief, throwing two scoreless frames.

Karver Partlow each pitched one inning to close out the victory.
Drake Kunza (1-1) took the loss for Bismarck State, allowing three earned runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings of work.
