Jimmies rally for ninth-inning win to earn split with Minot State

MILES CITY, Mont. – The University of Jamestown baseball team earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Minot State University to salvage a split of Wednesday afternoon's doubleheader at Denton Field. The Jimmies (7-20, 2-12 NSIC) relied on a phenomenal starting pitching performance and timely hitting to secure the win over the Beavers (11-16, 6-11 NSIC).

Game Summary
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Minot State struck first. After Jorey Anderson drew a walk and advanced to third on a single by Noah Madas, Colton Bagshaw brought Anderson home with a sacrifice fly to center field, giving the Beavers a 1-0 lead.

Jamestown responded with a two-run surge in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead. Adrian Warcken started the rally with a two-out single up the middle. Benney Benitez followed with a single down the left-field line, moving Warcken to third. Reese Logsdon then delivered an RBI single to center field, scoring Warcken and advancing Benitez to third. Mathieu Morin capped the inning's scoring with an RBI single to right field, bringing Benitez home to put the Jimmies ahead 2-1.

The Beavers tied the game in the bottom half of the fifth. Jacob McLean singled to left field, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Anderson, and scored on an RBI single to center field by Madas, making it 2-2.

The score remained deadlocked until the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Jett Nelson singled to center field, and Dallas Cummins came in to pinch-run. After Cummins stole second base, Warcken ripped an RBI single to center field, scoring Cummins to give Jamestown a 3-2 lead.
