BRANDON, S.D. – The University of Jamestown baseball team dropped a 6-2 decision to the University of Minnesota-Crookston in a neutral-site conference matchup on Friday afternoon at Aspen Park.
The Jimmies (5-17, 1-8 NSIC) tallied nine hits but stranded 12 runners on base, while the Golden Eagles (12-10, 5-5) used a steady offensive attack—scoring single runs in six different innings—to pull away for the victory.
Game Summary
Jamestown struck first in the bottom of the second inning when
Trayson Kostial launched a solo home run to center field, giving the Jimmies an early 1-0 advantage.
Minnesota-Crookston responded with a solo home run of their own in the top of the third inning off the bat of Aaron Wensloff to tie the game at 1-1. The Golden Eagles took the lead in the fourth when Jackson Fliflet hit a solo shot to left field.
The Golden Eagles extended their lead to 3-1 in the fifth inning. After Tori Uhlich was hit by a pitch and stole two bases, Wensloff delivered an RBI single through the left side to bring him home.
Jamestown threatened in the middle innings but was unable to capitalize until the bottom of the seventh.
Grant Chapman led off the frame with a double down the left-field line. One batter later,
Adrian Warcken ripped an RBI double to left-center, scoring Chapman to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Minnesota-Crookston countered by manufacturing late runs to seal the game. In the top of the eighth, Caden Kappes reached on an error and later scored on a wild pitch. In the ninth, Connor Bushbaum provided an RBI single through the left side to finalize the score at 6-2.

Isaac Wensloff (3-1) earned the win for UMC, pitching five innings in relief while allowing one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts. Nate Heymann worked a scoreless eighth inning, and Kaylor Chamberlain pitched the ninth to close out the game for the Golden Eagles.
