SIOUX CITY, Iowa—The University of Jamestown's Caydann Cox was chosen as the 2024 Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Year, headlining the conference's postseason awards which were announced on Wednesday.
Cox, who also was named Freshman of the Year, racked up 246 kills and hit .372 for the season. He added 149 digs, 40 blocks, and 14 service aces.
Sebastian Ignaczak and Owen Anderson of Morningside (Iowa) were chosen as Co-Libero/Defenders of the Year. Ignaczak led the Jimmies with 203 digs, passed out 25 assists, and had 22 aces.
Joining Cox and Ignaczak on the first team were Caylor Cox and Gaven Hackley. Cox, who earned his fourth GPAC first-team award, had 135 kills, 128 digs, 112 assists, and a team-high 24 aces. He was the only player in the GPAC to have 100 or more kills, assists, and digs in 2024. Hackley was first on the team with 351 assists and had 101 kills, 96 digs, 33 blocks, and 18 aces.
Tysen Myers and Tomasz Swiderski were named to the second team. Myers posted a team-high .442 hitting percentage on 85 kills and also led UJ with 57 total blocks. Swiderski was second on the team with 149 kills and had 27 total blocks.
Honorable mention selections went to Donte Jennings and Camden Steckler. Jennings finished with 81 kills while hitting .320. Defensively, Jennings had 43 digs and 24 blocks. Steckler hit .427 on 55 kills and added 42 total blocks.
Jamestown won the regular season championship for 2024 with a 10-0 record as well as the winning the GPAC Men's Volleyball Tournament Championship and automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on April 30 - May 4 at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse.
The GPAC All-Conference teams were selected by the league coaches.
