The University of Jamestown softball team played its next-to-last home doubleheader Friday evening against Doane (Neb.) University at the Nelson Family Bubble. The Jimmies rallied for a 2-1 win in the first game, then the Tigers took game two by a score of 6-3.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Jamestown's Hope Ransome and Doane's Abbi Arroyo kept the opposition off the scoreboard through the first five innings in Friday's first game.
- Doane's Jeryn Allen doubled to lead off the sixth, then moved to third on Katelyn Hays' sacrifice bunt. Anna Prauner hit a sacrifice fly to score Allen for a 1-0 lead.
- With one out in the bottom of the sixth and Sonya Rodgers running at first, Ally Battistoni reached on a fielding error by Hays to give the Jimmies runners at first and second.
- Mackenzie Lefebvre doubled to left, scoring both runners to put the Jimmies ahead 2-1.
- The Tigers made things interesting in the top of the seventh, getting a runner to third base with two outs before Ransome struck out pinch-hitter Payton Cooley for the final out.
- Ransome improved to 10-4 on the year, striking out six in a complete game victory.
- Lefebvre was 2-for-3 at the plate, with both of her hits doubles.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Jamestown got a two-out double by Samarah Martinez to even the score.
- The Tigers responded with four runs in the top of the fourth, then added another run in the fifth to extend their lead to 6-1.
- UJ scratched together a pair of runs in their half of the fifth, with the first coming on an RBI triple by Trinity Gregg, and the second an RBI single by Martinez.
- Gentrey Turin got things started for the Jimmies in the bottom of the seventh with a double to left field. Gregg then drew a walk to put runners on first and second.
- After a pitching change, the Tigers recorded their first out of the inning on a fly ball to center. The ball was deep enough for the runners to move up a base, and UJ had a pair of runners in scoring position and the tying run at the plate.
- Unfortunately for Jamestown, the last two hitters were retired and the Tigers closed out the win.
- Gregg and Martinez both were 2-for-3 batting to lead the Jimmies.
