JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The University of Jamestown softball team wrapped the season with a doubleheader against Wayne State College (Neb.) on Sunday afternoon at Trapper Field.
The Wildcats (41-13, 21-9 NSIC) took game one 7-1 and defeated the Jimmies (30-22, 11-19 NSIC) 9-1 in game two.
Game One Summary
Jamestown struck first in the bottom of the first inning.
Trinity Gregg drew a one-out walk, advanced to third following a walk to
Kasydi Bennett, and a sacrifice bunt by
Maddie Spaeth; subsequently scoring on a fielding error by the Wayne State third baseman to give the Jimmies a 1-0 advantage.
Wayne State answered and took the lead for good in the top of the third inning. Taylor Coleman delivered a two-run single up the middle to score Emilee Marth and Leah Chance. Moments later,
Maddie Scobee crossed the plate on a passed ball to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead.
The Wildcats extended their cushion with three more runs in the fourth inning. Scobee lined an RBI single to left-center, Coleman added an RBI single to center field, and Reagan Dreibelbis was later hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run, pushing the margin to 6-1.
Wayne State tacked on a final unearned run in the top of the sixth when Marth scored on a Jamestown throwing error.
Despite drawing six walks and collecting five hits, the Jimmies struggled to find the timely hit, stranding 12 runners on base throughout the contest. Wayne State starter Taylor Coleman kept the Jamestown hitters off balance, striking out 10 batters over five innings.

Game Two Summary
Wayne State took an early lead in the top of the first inning, pushing two runs across the plate. Taylor Coleman hit an RBI single to left-center to score Jordyn Klein, and Kennadi Borngrebe followed with an RBI single of her own to bring home Emilee Marth.
The Wildcats expanded their advantage significantly with a five-run surge in the top of the third inning. Coleman delivered her second RBI single of the game, scoring Leah Chance. Lillie Timm then broke the game open with a grand slam to left field, driving in Reagan Dreibelbis, Coleman, and Marth to give Wayne State a commanding 7-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Wayne State tacked on two more runs. Coleman recorded her third RBI single of the day to score Chance, and Dreibelbis singled to left field to bring home Maddie Scobee, extending the margin to 9-0.
Jamestown broke the shutout in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Tori Olson lined a single down the left-field line and advanced to second when
Trinity Gregg drew a walk.
Sonya Rodgers then ripped an RBI single to right-center, scoring Olson to make it a 9-1 game. The Jimmies eventually loaded the bases, but a strikeout ended the threat and enacted the run rule to close the game.
