MANDAN, N.D.—Brad Fortin scored twice and set a new Jimmie single-season mark for goals while Reid Wilson also netted a pair of goals as the fifth-ranked University of Jamestown men's hockey team defeated Midland University 5-1 Saturday evening in the semifinals of the MCH tournament at Starion Sports Complex in Mandan, N.D.
THE BASICS
Final Score: Jamestown 5, Midland 1
Records: Jamestown 23-8-0, Midland 12-21-0

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fortin put the Jimmies ahead at 9:07 of the first with his 21st goal of the year, assisted by Wilson and Keaton Cline.
- The lead became 2-0 at 10:27 of the second period, with Fortin's second of the game and 22nd of the season, breaking the previous mark of 21 set by Jordan Baranesky in 2022-23.
- Twenty-three seconds after Fortin's goal, Midland was called for a five-minute boarding major, and the Jimmies capitalized. Logan Berggren's ninth of the year came at 15:06 of the second and made it a 3-0 game. Matthew Poole and Alek Erichuk got credit for the assists.
- Just as a Midland minor penalty expired at the 18:32 mark of the second, Wilson scored UJ's fourth goal, assisted by Erichuk and Jake Huculak. In the ensuing scrum, Cody Shearer and Berggren were called for penalties—Berggren sent to the box for a roughing minor while Shearer was assessed a five-minute major for grabbing the face mask and a game misconduct. The final 1:28 of the second was four-on-four hockey, and Jamestown still had a three-minute five-on-four power play after Berggren's penalty expired at 19:28 of the third.
- The man advantage worked out in the Jimmies' favor, as Wilson scored at 2:52 with Jamestown's second power play goal of the game to push the lead to 5-0. Berggren and Poole picked up the assists.
- Midland got on the board with Andrew Larsen's goal at 7:51, but UJ still maintained a four-goal lead.
- Frustration set in for the Warriors as they took a cross checking minor, a cross checking major with a game misconduct, and a roughing minor in the final 6:38.
- Shots ended 53-23 in favor of Jamestown, and Brandon Weare had 22 saves in goal.
