ST. PAUL, Minn.-- The Jimmie women's basketball team was outscored 25-7 in the second quarter to fall behind by 18 at the half, losing 82-61 to Concordia-St. Paul to conclude the Radisson Hotel MSP North Classic Saturday.
Tied at 17 after the first quarter, the Golden Bears used a 13-0 run over the final 5:03 of the second quarter to build a 42-24 halftime advantage. The Jimmies struggled to find any offense in the quarter, making just 3 of 18 shots.
UJ trailed 50-35 after Anna Schmitt's three-pointer with 4:39 left in the third, but would score 11 of the final 17 points in the quarter to trail by 10 heading into the final frame.
A basket by Lindsay Dorr gave Concordia-St. Paul a 20-point lead with 5:15 left, and the Jimmies would get no closer than 17 the rest of the way.
Allison Jablonsky (FR/Blaine, MN) led UJ with 10 points off the bench. Alexis Watts (SR/Miller, SD) added 8, while Kyra Dewald (SR/Jamestown, ND) and Taylor Hammer (SR/Grand Forks, ND) each finished with 8. Bryn Woodside (JR/Albert Lea, MN) added 7 points and 3 assists. Jenna Doyle (SO/Princeton, MN) and Makenzie Bebo (SR/St. Michael, MN) each chipped in with 5 points and 5 rebounds off the bench. Watts was also named to the all-tournament team.
Schmitt was one of five Golden Bears in double figures, leading all scorers with 19. She also had a game-high 7 assists. Mishayla Jones had 12, Lauren Shifflett and Caitlyn Russell 11, and Kyrah Fredenburg 10 for CSP (4-2).
Jamestown returns home to open North Star Athletic Association conference play against Dickinson State on Friday, Dec. 2.
