The Jamestown College softball team was fortunate enough to get softball in over the weekend. The Jimmies' good fortunes, however, didn't follow them onto the field.
Dickinson State won two games on Saturday before Sunday's games were wiped out because of poor weather conditions. The losses stretches the Jimmies' losing streak to five games.
The Blue Hawks, who improve to 6-2 in the Dakota Athletic Conference and 16-10 overall, pushed eight runs across in Game 1, while Sara Jane Webster held the Jimmies scoreless in Game 2 to cap off the sweep.
Webster, a senior from Los Angeles, gave up just two hits and one walk to the Jimmies, who are now 5-5 in the DAC and 13-21 overall.
Jamestown College is scheduled to host Valley City State on Tuesday, but with the late snowfall the game could be changed.
DSU 8, Jimmies 4
Jamestown College rallied for three runs in the top of the third, but it was all Dickinson State the rest of the way.
The Blue Hawks combined for five runs over the fourth and fifth innings to eventually beat the Jimmies 8-4.
Vanessa Adame led the charge by going 2-for-3 from the plate with a triple and four RBIs. Nathalie Martinez drove in a pair of runs after going 2-for-2 with a double. Nicole Youngblood and Ikea Mauldin also recorded one RBI apiece.
Taysia Kaufman went all seven innings on the mound giving up four runs on 11 hits and no walks. Celene Eccles was her toughest test as the Jimmie designated player drove in two runs after going 3-for-4 with three doubles. Jamestown College third baseman Kelsie Jensen also went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Steph Bolt was saddled with the loss after giving up eight runs on nine hits and two walks. The junior from Glendale, Ariz. fanned seven DSU batters over six innings of work.

After outhitting last year's DAC regular season champs in the opener, Webster made sure Jamestown College wouldn't repeat that feat in Saturday's nightcap.
The two-time DAC Pitcher of the Year held the Jimmies to just two hits as the Blue Hawks completed the sweep with a 6-0 victory.
Martinez drove in another two runs in Game 2 to lead the Blue Hawk's offensive attack. Charnel Zetsch and Mauldin each had two hits and an RBI, while Webster helped her own cause by driving in a run despite not registering a hit.
Jessica Lees started in the circle for the Jimmies and was relieved by Emily Snow in the sixth after giving up six runs, five earned, off seven hits and two walks. Snow closed out the final inning allowing just one hit and no runs.
Amy Shadinger and Megan Stepro supplied the Jimmies' only two hits.
