The University of Jamestown women's soccer team, under 15^th year head coach Nick Becker, is set to begin their 2026 season Sunday, August 30 at Roosevelt University.
 
The 2026-27 season will be a historic one for the Jimmies, having completed the NCAA Division II expedited provisional membership process, marking the Jimmies' second year in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and first as full NCAA D-II members.
 
The Team
 
Jamestown brings back three of their top four scorers from a season ago, including senior Vega Canada, the Jimmies leading scorer from last season with three goals, who will look to anchor the young Jimmies roster. Canada was named the Jamestown Offensive Player to Watch and through three seasons so far with the Jimmies, the native of Pamplona, Spain has been a centerpiece of the offense with 10 career goals and five assists.
 
Also returning is Nellie Brown and Langley Grow, both of which had three points last season off a goal plus an assist. Brown was responsible for the game-winning goal in Jamestown's 1-0 win at University of Minnesota Crookston in 2025.  
 
Kyah Gabel was named the Jamestown Defensive Player to Watch as she started all 17 games last season, holding down the defense and leading all position players in minutes played with 1456 (85.6 per game).
 
The Staff
 
Nick Becker returns for his 15^th season leading the Jamestown women's soccer program. The winningest coach in program history, Becker sits at 145 victories heading into the 2026 season with his tenure including a couple GPAC conference championships and NAIA national tournament appearances.
 
Graduate assistants Damian Gonzalez and Charlie Whalley will supplement Becker for the Jimmies second season in the NSIC.
 
The Schedule
 
The Jimmies' 2026 schedule features a total of 18 contests; three non-conference matchups before one game each against the 15 NSIC opponents.
 
UJ's season will start on the southern coast of Lake Michigan where they will play a couple of games. First is at Roosevelt University (8/30) in metropolitan Chicago, then the Jimmies will play Davenport University (9/1) at a neutral site hosted by Purdue University Northwest in Hammond, Ind.
 
Later that week, Jamestown will return to North Dakota where they will take on NSIC foe Minot State University on the road in a non-conference tilt (9/4).
 
NSIC play begins the following week with a trip to Southeastern Minnesota where the Jimmies will play Winona State University (9/8) and Concordia University – St. Paul (9/10).
 
Then, UJ will have a four-game homestand – their longest of the season - with games against Minnesota State University (9/18), St. Cloud State University (9/20), followed by Minnesota State University Moorhead (9/25) and Minnesota Crookston (9/27) the next weekend.
 
To begin the month of October, the Jimmies will hit the road to play the University of Sioux Falls (10/2) and Southwest Minnesota State University (10/4). UJ took down the Mustangs 4-1 at home this past season in what was their highest scoring performance of the year.
 
Homecoming will be the second weekend of October and will feature home soccer against the University of Mary that Friday (10/9). Two days later, Jamestown will head to Minot for the second time for another game against the Beavers (10/11).
 
The final two home games will come against Wayne State College (10/16) and Augustana University (10/18).
 
The Jimmies will then embark to Northern Minnesota for games at Bemidji State University (10/23) and the University of Minnesota Duluth (10/25) before playing their travel partner Northern State University down in Aberdeen, S.D. (10/29) to round out the season.
 
The NSIC tournament will take place from Monday, November 2 through Sunday, November 8 should the Jimmies qualify.
