Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released its 2026 Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll on Monday. The Jimmies were selected to finish 14^th, ahead of Minnesota Crookston and Minnesota State Moorhead.

The Jimmies finished 2025 with a 2-13-1 record while going 2-11-1 against NSIC competition.
 
"We are really excited to get started again this year." said head coach Nick Becker ahead of the 2026 campaign. "Having experienced our first full season at the Division II level last year, we feel like the girls are ready to go and hit the ground running this year."
 
Senior Midfielder Vega Canada was selected as the Jamestown offensive player to watch. Canada appeared in all 17 games this past season and was the leading scorer for the Jimmies with three goals. During her three seasons at UJ, the Pamplona, Spain native has amassed 25 points on 10 goals and five assists.
 
"Vega has been an important player for us for the past three years, and we are expecting her to have her best season yet for her senior year," Becker noted. "Coming from Pamplona, Spain, Vega adds some flair to our attack and is really dangerous with the ball at her feet."
 
Junior Kyah Gabel was named the defensive player to watch for UJ. Gabel started in all 17 contests for the Jimmies in 2025 as she heads into her third season with the team.
 
"Kyah is one of the most hard-working, determined players we have ever had the pleasure of coaching," said Becker. "She acts as a rock at the back and calms us down in possession when we need to slow it down. We think she will have a big year this year."
 
Jamestown will have a home scrimmage against Concordia (Minn.) on Friday, August 21, and then host Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, August 22 in an exhibition match. The Jimmies first official game will be in the Chicago area on Sunday, August 30 at Roosevelt University.
