BOSSIER CITY, La. — The University of Jamestown men's wrestling team showcased their grit on the national stage this weekend, bringing home four medals from the 2026 NCWA National Wrestling Championships. The Jimmies were anchored by spectacular third-place finishes from
Isaac Ronquillo and
Elijah Nose, while
Rocker Aguilar and
Colton Schaad also secured spots on the national podium.
Overall, the Jimmies saw nine wrestlers take the mat, combining for 36 total victories and proving to be a formidable force throughout the tournament brackets.
At 125 pounds,
Isaac Ronquillo delivered a masterclass in bonus-point wrestling, finishing the tournament with a 5-1 record and an impressive four victories by fall. He stormed through the championship bracket, pinning Central Florida's Mohammad Davtalabsabet in just 1:04, picking up a major decision over Menlo College's Erik Ramirez, and adding another quick first-period pin (1:03) against Tarleton State's Noah Clayton in the quarterfinals.
After suffering his lone defeat in the semifinals to eventual finalist Lucas VanNostrand of the Apprentice School, Ronquillo quickly rebounded. He dominated the consolation bracket, securing a third-period fall (3:54) over Daniel Arellano (Menlo College) before clinching third place with an emphatic 1:42 pin over Life University's Kolby Dempsey.
At 133 pounds,
Elijah Nose wrestled an absolute marathon, compiling a team-high seven victories (7-1 overall) on his way to third place. Nose opened his tournament in dominant fashion, utilizing a 15-0 technical fall and back-to-back first-period pins to cruise into the quarterfinals.
After dropping a tight 9-5 decision to Life University's Adrian Morales, Nose rolled up his sleeves and went to work in the consolation bracket. He rattled off four consecutive victories in the wrestle-backs, including a 5:00 technical fall over Josiah Canales Maldonado (Ferrum College) and a crucial 4:43 pin against Menlo College's Jeremiah Steele in the consolation semifinals. In the bronze medal bout, Nose leaned on his defense to shut out Liberty University's Brodie Altman with a gritty 2-0 decision.
At 165 pounds,
Rocker Aguilar provided constant fireworks for the Jamestown faithful, finishing in sixth place. Aguilar compiled a 4-3 record, heavily relying on his explosive offense to rack up three separate technical falls. That included a stunning 27-9 technical fall over Owen Cherry of the Apprentice School in the blood rounds. Though he dropped his 5th place bout to VCU's Calvin Kopstein, Aguilar proved he belonged among the nation's best.
At 174 pounds,
Colton Schaad capped off the list of Jamestown placers by capturing eighth. Schaad wrestled a grueling eight matches over the weekend, posting a 5-3 record. He secured notable blowout victories, including a 22-3 technical fall in the opening round and a 15-5 major decision over Iowa State's Zachary Fern to guarantee his spot on the podium.
Several other Jimmies made deep runs into the tournament but fell just short of the podium. At 149 pounds,
Alvy Henderson put together a tremendous 5-2 tournament. After an early loss, Henderson ripped off four straight victories in the consolation bracket—including a 16-1 technical fall and a first-period pin—before bowing out one win shy of placing.
Dane Hartmann (197) also assembled a strong 4-2 record with two first-period pins, while
Hayden Ramaeker (184) posted a winning 3-2 record with two pins of his own.
Maddox Campbell (157) and
Mario Fernandez (141) rounded out the Jamestown contingent, each securing victories to contribute to the Jimmies' stellar weekend showing.
