MOORHEAD, Minn. – The University of Jamestown men's wrestling team jumped out to an early lead on Thursday night but could not sustain the momentum, falling 32-9 to Concordia College at Memorial Auditorium.
The Jimmies opened the dual with back-to-back victories to build a 9-0 advantage.
Isaac Ronquillo set the tone at 125 pounds, pinning Hunter Mars in 2:22 to put Jamestown on the board.
Elijah Nose followed with a thrilling performance at 133 pounds, securing a 13-10 sudden-victory decision over Kie Anderson.
Concordia College responded by sweeping the remaining eight weight classes. The run began with a major decision at 141 pounds and a decision at 149 pounds. The hosts extended their lead through the middle weights with technical falls at 157 and 165 pounds.
Jamestown battled in the upper weights but came up short in three consecutive decisions.
Colton Schaad dropped a narrow 4-2 contest to Brody Duke at 174 pounds , while
Hayden Ramaeker fell 10-6 to Aiden Russell at 184 pounds. At 197 pounds,
Dane Hartmann lost a 6-0 decision to William Freking.
Concordia finalized the 32-9 victory with a forfeit at heavyweight.
The Jimmies face Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., on Friday at 7 p.m.
