MOORHEAD, Minn. – The University of Jamestown men's wrestling team saw two individual champions crowned on Saturday at the Last Shot Invite.
Isaac Ronquillo (125) and
Alvy Henderson (149) both took home first-place finishes to lead the Jimmies.
UJ RESULTS
Ronquillo dominated the 125-pound bracket to earn his title. He opened the tournament with a quick pin, defeating Ayden Floyd (Northland Community & Technical College) in 1:06. In the semifinals, Ronquillo earned a 14-7 decision over Minnesota State Moorhead's Landon Walker. He capped his day with an 18-7 major decision victory against Owen Lindstrom (Bismarck State College) in the championship match.
At 149 pounds, the Jimmies secured the top two spots on the podium. Henderson went 4-0 on the day to claim first place, starting with a fall over Cohen Schleich (Dickinson State) in 6:08, followed by a dominant 19-1 tech fall over
Dalton Hinebauch (Unattached) in the quarterfinals. After a tight 4-1 decision win over Jackson Marr (Concordia-Moorhead) in the semifinals, Henderson met teammate
Ethan Holstein in the finals. Henderson won the all-Jimmie championship bout by tech fall, 19-3.
Holstein finished as the runner-up at 149 pounds. His path to the final included a dramatic 13-10 sudden victory over Karson Keiser (Unattached) and a 15-9 decision over Zaniyan Iron Eyes (Concordia-Moorhead) in the semifinals.
Colton Schaad also reached the finals for Jamestown, placing second at 174 pounds. After a first-round bye, Schaad rattled off back-to-back decisions, defeating Isaiah Schmitz (Concordia-Moorhead) 11-5 and Bradlee Shaw (Dickinson State) 9-6. He fell via tech fall to Cutter Jones (Dickinson State) in the first-place match.
Dane Hartmann battled back through the consolation bracket to take third place at 197 pounds. After a semifinal loss, Hartmann pinned Qilee Jackson (Northland Community & Technical College) in 1:26 and then secured third place with a fall over Charlie Larsen (Dickinson State) in 2:46.
Rocker Aguilar (165) placed fourth, highlighting his tournament with a tech fall win and a victory by disqualification in the consolation semifinals.
Maddox Campbell (157) finished fifth, closing his day with a high-scoring 21-15 decision over Tucker Fiene (Dickinson State).
Zairyn Ramos-Semana also competed for the Jimmies at 125 pounds.
UJ returns to dual action on Thursday, February 12, at Concordia College.
