Jimmies set to begin inaugural season on Saturday

The University of Jamestown tennis program is set to begin its inaugural season on February 7 with a non-conference matchup against Gustavus Adolphus College at Mandan Tennis Center.

The Jimmies enter their first official season after competing in two fall exhibition matches and one tournament, gaining early experience and establishing the foundation for the program's competitive identity.

Ahead of the spring season, Jamestown received its first ever ranking in the 2026 preseason coaches' poll, earning a 6th place selection out of 11 teams. Head coach Cam Jackson expressed confidence in the group's mindset and approach as the program takes its first steps.

"What excites me most about this year's team is that every player has embraced the challenge of building something from the ground up," Jackson said. "They bring energy and daily competitiveness to our environment every day. There is a strong belief within this group that we are going to grow together and set the bar high."

Adding to the program's early recognition, freshman Julie van Zeijl was named Jamestown's 2026 NSIC Player to Watch. Jackson highlighted her impact both on and off the court.

"Julie brings a mature and competitive personality that is well beyond her freshman year," Jackson said. "She's an extremely coachable player who embraces the hard work on the court and in the classroom. In our inaugural season with such a young roster, Julie approaches every single day with confidence that leads the way in establishing our program's identity."
