FREMONT, Neb. – The 10
th-ranked University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 women's hockey team secured a hard-fought 1-0 shutout victory over Lindenwood University on Friday in the consolation round of the WMCH Conference Tournament.
The game's only offense came midway through the opening frame.
Maddison Andrew netted her sixth goal of the season at the 9:54 mark of the first period. The unassisted goal proved to be the game-winner in what would become a tightly contested defensive battle.
Jamestown controlled the offensive tempo for the majority of the contest, outshooting Lindenwood 39-18 overall, which included a 16-4 shot advantage in the first period alone.
Goaltender
Maddie Sylvestre was flawless between the pipes for the Jimmies, turning aside all 18 shots she faced in a full 60 minutes of action to earn the shutout victory.
On the opposite end of the ice, Lindenwood goaltender Erica Didocha kept the game close with a resilient 38-save performance on 39 shots.
Special teams were kept off the scoreboard entirely. The Jimmies went 0-for-4 on the man advantage, while their penalty kill unit successfully neutralized both of Lindenwood's power-play opportunities.
