CHADRON, Neb. – The University of Jamestown women's wrestling team produced five place winners, led by a third-place finish from
Emily Novak, at the Eagle Women's Open hosted by Chadron State College on Saturday.

Emily Novak paced the Jimmies at 180 pounds, scoring 18.0 team points and finishing the day with a 4-1 record. Novak opened her tournament with dominant back-to-back technical fall victories, defeating Minot State's Lillian Garrett 10-0 and Southeast CC's Diesel Janovich 12-0 to reach the semifinals. After dropping a decision in the semis, she bounced back in the consolation bracket, pinning Garrett in 2:29 and securing third place with an 11-0 technical fall over Minot State's Dahlia Silva.
At 160 pounds,
Leah Willard earned a fifth-place finish, contributing 14.0 team points. Willard started strong with two consecutive falls, pinning Adams State's Elisibeth Sandy in 3:42 and Texas Woman's University's Faith Perez in 1:25 to advance to the semifinals. She capped her day with a lightning-fast 31-second pin against Trinidad State's Kaitie Knebel in the fifth-place match.
Ann Meiman also placed fifth for Jamestown at 145 pounds. After a quarterfinal loss, Meiman rallied in the consolation rounds with a 12-2 technical fall over Summer Rodgers (Texas Woman's University) and a 59-second pin of Minot State's Chloe Parsons. She secured fifth place with a 9-2 decision victory over Chadron State's Desza Munson.
In the 207-pound bracket,
Koiline Govergo took fifth place. Govergo picked up two pins on the day, stopping Chadron's Estrella Vasquez-Gutierrez in 4:44 and flattening Hastings' Annie Lopez in 4:41 in the fifth-place bout.
Nora Houglum rounded out the placers for UJ, finishing sixth at 131 pounds. Houglum won her first three matches to reach the semifinals, including technical falls over Abigale Holtz (Southeast CC) and Janessa Esquivel (Hastings), along with a tight 7-6 decision over Inergee Donald (Texas Woman's University).
Other competitors for the Jimmies included
Abby Ewing (131 lbs), who recorded a pin in 1:57 against Adams State's Madelyn Quintana, and
Kiera Hagman (124 lbs), who earned a 9-6 decision win in her opening round match.
UJ returns to dual action on Sunday, January 18, hosting the Jimmie duals at Harold Newman Arena against Dickinson State at 3:00 p.m. and Minot State at 4 p.m.
