JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Despite a fierce rally in the middle and upper weights that electrified the crowd at Harold Newman Arena, the University of Jamestown women's wrestling team narrowly fell to Dickinson State University, 23-19, in Saturday afternoon's dual.

The Jimmies faced an uphill battle from the opening whistle, conceding early points due to open weight classes at 110 and 117 pounds. Dickinson State capitalized on that early advantage, extending their lead with back-to-back 10-0 technical falls by Jazmine Turner (124) and Jumoke Adekoye (131) over UJ's Kiera Hagman and Abby Ewing.

However, staring down a significant deficit, the Jamestown lineup caught fire.

Nora Houglum ignited the comeback at 138 pounds, putting the Jimmies on the board by pinning DSU's Makenzie Shaw at the 3:25 mark. Ann Meiman kept the momentum rolling at 145 pounds, putting on a dominant performance to secure a 10-0 technical fall against Izzabella Davis in just 1:29.

The Jimmies' surge continued into the heavier weight classes with a pair of lightning-fast falls. Leah Wiillard (160) made quick work of Olivia Anderson, earning a pin in 1:42. Just moments later, Emily Novak (180) followed suit, taking down Bridgette Price and securing the fall in a brisk 1:57 to pull Jamestown right back into the team race.

With the dual on the line in the final bout of the afternoon, Dickinson State's Savanna Rickter (207) managed to halt the Jimmies' streak. Rickter secured a pin over UJ's Celia Jaeger in 58 seconds, sealing the 23-19 victory for the Blue Hawks.

Despite the team loss, Jamestown won four of the seven contested matches on the mat, highlighted by three impressive pins and a technical fall.

The Jimmies will compete at the USA Wrestling Women's Collegiate Club Nationals in North Liberty, Iowa, on Thursday, March 5.
