Allyssa Johnson eans All-American honors at 160 pounds

WICHITA, Kan.-- Allyssa Johnson capped off her season with a sixth-place finish in the 160-pound bracket of the NAIA Women's Wrestling Championship, which concluded Saturday evening at Park City Arena.

Johnson entered the tournament ranked sixth nationally at 160 pounds and opened with a 10-0 tech fall over Alexa Wolff of William Penn (Iowa). In the quarterfinals, Johnson won by injury default over No. 3 Quilaztli Miguel-Lapham of Southern Oregon. Seventh-ranked Darby Weidl of Ottawa (Kan.) pinned Johnson in 5:27 in the semifinals, and in the consolation semifinals, Johnson lost to No. 4 Micah Fisher of Cumberlands (Ky.) by injury default. The injury stopped Johnson from being able to wrestle in the fifth place match against No. 5 Josette Partney of Missouri Baptist.

Also representing the Jimmies in Wichita were Ann Marie Meiman (145) and Grace Todhunter (207).
