O'FALLON, Ill. — The 13th-ranked University of Jamestown women's hockey team pulled off the upset against No. 4 McKendree University Thursday afternoon, defeating the Bearcats 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the Women's Midwest College Hockey tournament at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sam Beaulac's unassisted goal at 10:39 of the first period gave the Jimmies a 1-0 lead. Beaulac's goal ended UJ's four-game scoring drought, dating back to January 24, covering a span of 283 minutes and 47 seconds.
- Kerstyn Barron brought McKendree level 52 seconds later with an assist by Janaya Laqua.
- At 18:18 of the first, Jamestown retook the lead on a power-play goal by Mackenzie Couling, with assists by Maddie Andrew and Jaeda Clayton.
- The Jimmies opened a 3-1 lead at 8:27 of the second with Sophia Banda scoring her first collegiate goal, assisted by Beaulac.
- A UJ penalty with 45 seconds left in the second period put McKendree on the power play, and 14 seconds into the extra-skater advantage, Kiley Hasenfratz scored to cut the lead to 3-2.
- Jamestown was outshot 13-2 in the third period and had to kill off two power-play chances, but goaltender Lilah Drew stopped all 13 shots she faced to keep the score at 3-2.
