JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The tenth-ranked University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 women's hockey team opened its home weekend series against No. 4 Minot State University with a 3-0 defeat Friday evening at John L. Wilson Arena.
After a scoreless first period, the Beavers broke the tie with a power-play goal from Karlyn Gudz at 4:31 of the second period, which would prove to be the game-winner.
The Beavers added two more goals in the third period. Gudz scored her second of the game at 1:35, and Abby Pineau found the net at 16:19 to make it 3-0.
Jimmie goaltender Lilah Drew made 20 saves on 23 shots. MSU's Jillian Ackerman earned the shutout, stopping all 17 UJ shots.
Jamestown was 0-for-2 on the power play, while Minot State went 1-for-3. The series wraps up Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
