JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The sixth-ranked University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 men's hockey team continued their winning streak with a dominant 5-2 victory over No. 21 Arizona State University Friday evening at John L. Wilson Arena.
The Jimmies, who improved their season record to 4-0-0-0 against ACHA opposition, controlled the pace and secured scoring across all three periods.
UJ wasted no time getting on the board.
Carson Brown scored his second goal of the season at 3:47 of the first period, assisted by
Alek Erichuk.
Trey Stephenson quickly extended the Jimmies' lead, scoring at 8:24, assisted by
Jordan Baranesky. Arizona State cut into the deficit late in the period when Carter Newlin found the back of the net at 12:22, assisted by Ty Marchant.
Jamestown took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission, having slightly outshot the Sun Devils 8-6 in the first frame.
The Jimmies extended their lead early in the second period as Brown found the back of the net again at 1:37, scoring his second of the night and third of the season. This goal, assisted by
Brad Fortin and
Alek Erichuk, proved to be the eventual game-winner.
The third period saw Arizona State cut the lead back to two goals with a power-play marker from Austin Cameron at 7:02. However, the Jimmies quickly countered.
Matthew McIntyre scored a crucial insurance goal at 15:57, assisted by Stephenson and Baranesky. The scoring was capped off by Fortin, with an empty-net goal at 19:08.

Brandon Weare was solid between the pipes, making 25 saves on 27 shots faced to secure the victory. The UJ penalty kill unit stopped two of three Arizona State power-play opportunities, while the offense capitalized on one of their three power play chances.
