CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-- The ninth-ranked University of Jamestown men's volleyball team lost 3-1 to The Master's (Calif.) in its final pool play at the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship Thursday evening at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team led by more than two points in the first set until a 5-0 run by The Master's gave them a 22-18 edge.
- UJ ended the run thanks to a serving error, but The Master's took the last three points and a 1-0 match lead.
- Jamestown started the second set fast, going ahead 7-2 and forcing The Master's to call timeout.
- The Jimmies eventually built a 12-5 lead only to have The Master's rally to get within one at 13-12.
- A 7-1 run put UJ in front by eight points, and a late push by The Master's cut the gap to four, but an attack error clinched the set for Jamestown.
- UJ trailed 20-17 late in the third before coming back to tie the score at 20. Down the stretch the teams traded points until the Mustangs finally put the set away 29-27.
- The Jimmies held an 8-6 lead in the fourth set but The Master's won seven of the next eight points for a 13-9 advantage.
- The Mustangs later went up by nine before Jamestown fought back to trim the lead to six points (23-17).
