MITCHELL, S.D.-- The University of Jamestown baseball team began its six-game weekend road trip with a pair of wins Saturday afternoon, defeating Dakota Wesleyan University 8-0 and 13-8 at Drake Field in Mitchell, S.D.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Avery Liestman pitched a two-hit complete game shutout in the opener, striking out seven and facing just three batters over the minimum as he improved to 6-0 on the year.
- Liestman retired the first nine hitters in order before giving up a single to Lane Darrow leading off the fourth inning. The only other DWU hitter to record a base hit against the Jimmie right-hander was Drew Kitchens, who singled with two outs in the sixth.
- UJ's first run came in the top of the second on a single by Jett Nelson. Ryan Muizelaar was on second after a one-out double, and a throwing error by the Tigers' third baseman allowed Muizelaar to come around and score.
- A pair of home runs accounted for the Jimmie scoring in the fifth inning. Alex Alva's fifth of the year, a three-run shot, put Jamestown ahead 4-0. Later in the inning, Jordan Singleton hit his fourth of the season, a two-run homer, extending the lead to 6-0.
- Alva drove in his fourth run of the game an inning later with a single through the left side of the infield, and Ben Swennumson's seventh inning single brought in the final UJ run of the game.
- Triston Madison had a double for Jamestown, which also had hits from Hayden Brown and Isaiah Roebuck.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Runs came early and often for both teams in Saturday's second game.
- Hayden Brown launched his sixth homer of the season to put Jamestown ahead 2-0 in the second.
- DWU rallied for two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game going into the third.
- Jordan Singleton drove in Alex Alva with a single to make it 3-2, then Ryan Muizelaar blasted a three-run home run, increasing UJ's lead to four runs.
- Three runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth saw the Tigers with a 7-6 lead as the Jimmies came to bat in the sixth.
- An error on a ground ball hit by Isaiah Roebuck allowed Ben Patton to come home with the tying run, then Alva hit a sacrifice fly to score Riki Okamoto as Jamestown retook an 8-7 lead.
- A one-out solo home run by DWU tied the game at 8-8 in the bottom of the sixth, and that would be the last run allowed by Jimmie pitching.
- Roebuck's two-out single to center plated Brown and Jett Nelson in the top of the seventh.
- Singleton and Nelson each drove in a run in the eighth, and a DWU error in the ninth let an important insurance run score to make it 13-8.
- Jack Howard (4-3), the fourth of six Jimmie pitchers, pitched 1 1/3 innings for the win.
- Ethan Krupp struck out the side in the seventh to hold on to a 10-8 lead, then Brown worked the final two innings for his third save.
- Nelson (4-for-5, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Roebuck (2-for-5, 2 RBI), Brown (2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI), and Singleton (2-for-5, 2 RBI) all had multi-hit games for UJ.
