SEWARD, Neb.-- The University of Jamestown softball team had its four-game winning streak snapped Friday evening as Concordia (Neb.) took both games against the Jimmies by scores of 4-3 and 11-3.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • A one-out double by Montgomery Berner drove in CUNE's first run in the bottom of the second, and the Bulldogs led 1-0 going into the fourth inning.
  • Mackenzie Lefebvre led off the inning with a double, and pinch-runner Sidnie Aasen advanced to third following a single by Hope Ransome.
  • With runners at the corners, Ally Battistoni executed a squeeze bunt to bring Aasen home and tie the score at 1-1.
  • CUNE retook the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, two of them coming on a single by Julia Van Wey.
  • Jamestown cut the deficit to one on an RBI double by Samarah Martinez and a single to right field by Kayla Quintanilla.
  • Down by a run in the seventh, the Jimmies got a one-out single from Trinity Gregg, who went 3-for-4 in the game, but were unable to score the tying run.
  • Ransome (8-4) took the loss, giving up four runs on nine hits in six innings. She struck out three and walked two.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • CUNE used a seven-run bottom of the fourth inning to take a 10-1 lead and ended the game via the run rule in the bottom of the fifth.
  • The Jimmies cut CUNE's lead to 3-1 on Gracie Fisher's RBI single in the top of the fourth.
  • Jamestown loaded the bases with three consecutive singles to start the fifth, then Sidnie Aasen reached on an error. Abby Blair and Amanda Burch scored to make it 10-3.
  • Aasen stole second base, putting runners on second and third, and the Bulldogs replaced starting pitcher Taryn Ganstrom (2-3) with Kaylei Denison. Denison retired the next three batters to keep CUNE's seven-run lead intact.
  • A two-out single by Laycee Josoff brought in the game-clinching run for the Bulldogs in the bottom of the fifth.
  • Sunny Halsey (3-1) lost for the first time this season after giving up nine runs (seven earned) on six hits in three innings.
  • Fisher and Blair each had a pair of hits, while Burch and Sydney Grendler also had base knocks.
