Mankato, Minn. – The University of Jamestown softball team faced a challenging Saturday at the Maverick Sports Dome, dropping both ends of a conference doubleheader to Winona State University. The Warriors' pitching staff proved to be the story of the day, holding the Jimmies to just three hits across 14 innings of play.
Game 1: Winona State 3, Jamestown 0
In the opening contest, Winona State secured a 3-0 victory. The Warriors took an early lead in the first inning on an RBI single and added insurance runs in the third and fifth frames. Jamestown's best offensive efforts came from Maddie Spaeth and Amanda Burch, who each recorded a double, but the Jimmies were unable to string together a sustained rally. Abby Blair took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits over 4.2 innings.
Game 2: Winona State 2, Jamestown 0
The nightcap followed a similar script, as Winona State utilized a dominant performance in the circle to earn a 2-0 win. The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning when the Warriors broke the deadlock with an RBI single. They added an unearned run in the sixth following a Jimmie defensive error. Peyton Quam provided the lone hit for Jamestown with a single in the third inning. Aubrey Quern pitched a complete game in the loss, surrendering only two earned runs and striking out four.
