INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Set One (25-21)
The early stages of the match saw each team struggle to take control. After Calumet cut the UJ lead to 8-7, Jamestown responded with a combo block by Hackley, Caydann Cox, and Myers, which started a string of four straight points to give the Jimmies a bit of breathing room. The Crimson Wave answered with a 4-0 run of their own, but Jamestown never relinquished the lead.
  • Set Two (23-25)
After Calumet took an early 6-2 lead, UJ rallied to tie the score at 6-6, and from there, neither team went ahead by more than two points until the Crimson Wave went in front 19-15. Three straight Jimmie points brought them within 19-18, but Calumet maintained the lead for the rest of the set and tied the match at 1-1.
  • Set Three (25-13)
Ten of the first eleven points went the way of the Jimmies, and the home team never looked back on the way to a 12-point set win. Despite having just seven kills, UJ outhit Calumet .286 to -.081, with 13 attack errors by the Crimson Wave accounting for a majority of the scoring.
  • Set Four (25-12)
Jamestown turned up the heat on offense in the final set, hitting at a .524 clip with 13 kills on 21 attempts. After a service error by the Jimmies made it 6-5, eight straight points put the set out of reach. Three players making their Harold Newman Arena debut—Dylan Malit, Matthew Wagner, and Donte Jennings—combined for four points down the stretch to help UJ remain undefeated while helping send Jimmie fans home happy with another win.
