The University of Jamestown softball team extended its winning streak to eight games, winning a pair of games against Minot State University Tuesday evening in the Nelson Family Bubble. Jamestown won game one by a score of 4-2 and completed the sweep with a 2-1 victory in the second game. The Jimmies improve their record to 8-2, their best record after ten games since 2020, when they also were 8-2.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Minot State used a one-out double by Sara Van Wickler and a single from Abby Lohse to take an early 1-0 lead.
• The Jimmies countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Trinity Gregg led off with her fifth triple of the season, tying her for third place on the Jamestown single-season record list after just nine games. One batter later, Samarah Martinez singled to left to bring in Gregg and tie the game at 1-1. Martinez went from first to third on Kayla Quintanilla's double, and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Gracie Fisher to make it 2-1.
• The Jimmies added to their lead in the bottom of the second. Ally Battistoni drew a leadoff walk, then Mackenzie Lefebvre homered to left field, pushing UJ out to a 4-1 lead.
• Minot State added a run in the top of third on a two-out home run by Lohse, and that would be the final run by Jamestown pitcher Hope Ransome.
• Ransome (3-0) worked into the seventh inning, striking out eight batters and allowing two runs on seven hits. Bristol Foytik came on with one out in the seventh and runners on first and second, retiring the final two hitters to record her second save.
• Gregg and Lefebvre each went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Gracie Fisher and Gentrey Turin also had hits.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Two runs ended up being enough for the Jimmies in game two, as Abby Blair gave up just one run on two hits in a complete game victory. Blair improved to 4-1, needing just 75 pitches (53 strikes) in going the distance for the second time this season.
• With one out in the bottom of the first, Samarah Martinez reached on a single. The next batter, Kayla Quintanilla, followed with a single and Martinez ended up at third base for Ally Battistoni.
• Battistoni singled to left, scoring Martinez as Quintanilla took second. One out later, Amanda Burch hit a ground ball that was misplayed by the Minot State shortstop, resulting in Quintanilla scoring from second and Battistoni moving up a base.
• Blair retired the first 14 Minot State hitters until allowing a two-out double to Maisie Whitlow in the fifth. Whitlow was lifted for pinch-runner Hannah Murray, who stole third base on ball four to Anna LaCount. Taylor Smith then singled to score Murray and make it a one-run game. However, the last seven Minot State hitters went down in order, and the Jimmies came away with the victory.
• Martinez was a perfect 3-for-3 and Battistoni went 2-for-3 as UJ finished with six hits as a team.
FOR THE FOES
• Lohse and Van Wickler were a combined 4-for-8 in game one.
•.Kierra Fournier came on in relief of Gabi Dawyduk in the second game and struck out three in two scoreless innings.
