The University of Jamestown softball team took home two more wins on Saturday, defeating the University of Mary 9-1 in five innings and Northern State University 6-3 at the Nelson Family Bubble Tournament

THE BASICS
SCORES: Jamestown 9, University of Mary 1 (5 innings); Jamestown 6, Northern State 3
LOCATION: Nelson Family Bubble / Jamestown, ND
RECORD: Jamestown 4-2, University of Mary 1-1, Northern State 8-2

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• After the Marauders scored a run in the top of the first, the Jimmies came back and scored the game's final nine runs.
• Four of those runs came in the Jimmies' first time at bat. Gracie Fisher and Hope Ransome each had run-scoring singles, Kayla Quintanilla drove in another with a sacrifice fly, and a throwing error by UMary allowed another runner to cross the plate for a 4-1 UJ lead.
• Another error in the bottom of the fourth led to Jamestown's fifth run of the game. Trinity Gregg singled with two outs, and advanced to second on a single by Samarah Martinez. The next batter up, Maddie Spaeth, hit a ball to the shortstop and the errant throw to first gave Gregg an easy path home.
• UJ scored four more in the bottom of the sixth, and the game ended via the run rule. Spaeth's two-run single got things started, then with runners on first and second, pinch-hitter Sydney Grendler delivered an RBI single to make it 8-1. Ally Battistoni followed with a single through the left side to bring in Sidnie Aasen for the final run.
• Ransome worked six innings to get the win in the circle, improving to 2-0. She gave up just one run on six hits, striking out three and walking one.
• Gregg had three of Jamestown's 12 hits. Martinez finished 2-for-4 and Battistoni was 2-for-3.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• A three-run fourth inning proved to be the difference as Jamestown defeated Northern State 6-3 in the nightcap.
• Trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the third, the Jimmies drew level on a two-out triple by Trinity Gregg that scored Gentrey Turin, who singled one batter earlier.
• With runners at second and third, Kayla Quintanilla singled up the middle and advanced to second on the throw home. Mackenzie Lefebvre followed with a single to right, scoring Quintanilla to make it 4-1.
• NSU responded with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to cut UJ's lead to 4-3, but the Jimmies got one of those runs back in the bottom half.
Maddie Spaeth's groundball to second base was misplayed, and the error led to Gregg scoring and Spaeth taking second base while making the score 5-3.
Samarah Martinez's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the sixth scored Quintanilla with an important insurance run as Jamestown took a 6-3 lead into the seventh.
• NSU got the leadoff runner on in the top of the seventh, but Abby Blair was able to retire the next three batters and get the complete game win. Blair struck out four over seven innings as her record went to 2-1.
• Quintanilla and Gregg each had two of UJ's eight hits.

FOR THE FOES
• Janelle Bergmann and Jenel Mallari both had two hits for UMary.
• NSU's top three hitters in the order—Ashley Fauske, Claire Zbylut, and Avarie Eagle—all had two hits, combining for six of the Wolves' eight hits in the game.
