CHADRON, Neb. – The University of Jamestown women's wrestling team had five wrestlers post top-six places Saturday at the Chadron State Open.
Allyssa Johnson (160 pounds) had the top finish for the Jimmies, taking second. Johnson won her first two matches by tech fall, then recorded a pin to advance to the championship match.
Ann Marie Meiman (138) took third after going 4-1 on the day. Three of Meiman's victories came by tech fall, where she combined to outscore her opponent 32-0.
Also finishing third was Grace Todhunter (207), who won her final two matches by pin in a combined time of 3:55, including UJ's fastest pin of the tournament (0:32).
Rounding out the Jimmie placers were Jenna Baarson, who was fifth at 117, and Hannah Sjostrom, sixth at 207.
UJ wrestlers who earned wins included Abby Ewing (131), Nora Houglum (131), Riley Rangel (160), Leah Willard (160), and Celia Jaeger (180).
Jamestown's next competition will be a dual at University of Sioux Falls on Thursday, January 2, beginning at 7 p.m.
