No. 1 Jimmies score 13 goals in sweep of Waldorf

Albert Lea, Minn. – The number one ranked University of Jamestown ACHA D1 Men's Hockey team traveled for weekend games against the Waldorf Warriors. The Jimmies put four goals on the board on Friday and nine on Saturday to beat Waldorf twice. 

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1

  • The Jimmies lone goal in the first period came from Chase Visser, his first D1 goal of the year, assisted by Alek Erichuk and Matthew Poole. Brandon Weare had 20 saves in the period to keep the Warriors off the scoreboard. 
  • Waldorf entered the penalty box four minutes into the second, and Jacob Thomas was quick to execute on the power play with passes from Carter Johnson and Jordan Baranesky
  • Four minutes later, Brad Fortin (assist Darius Makse) executed on the Jimmies second power play of the night putting them ahead 3-0 to end the second. Brandon Weare tagged on another 20 saves.
  • The Warriors managed a goal on a power play with 6:20 remaining in the third, but not before Matthew McIntyre hit the fourth and final goal for the Jimmies. 
  • The Jimmies outshot the Warriors 51-26. 

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2

  • The Jimmies scored nine goals to the Warriors one in game two. 
  • Carter Johnson had the Jimmies only goal in the first period with assists from Matthew Poole and Matthew McIntyre
  • Brad Fortin executed on the Jimmies first power play of the night one minute into the second period. Keaton Cline hit another two minutes later, and Jordan Baranesky added the fourth on a power play 5:35 into play. 
  • Ray Warrack had back-to-back goals, one assisted by Johnson and one unassisted to tag on the Jimmies fifth and sixth of the night. McIntyre closed out the second period on another Johnson assist. 
  • McIntyre then opened the third, scoring the Jimmies eighth goal. The Warriors got on the board with nine minutes to go, and Jordan Baranesky executed on another power play to end scoring for the night.

  • The Jimmies head to Minot State on Tuesday, November 12. Puck drop is at 7:00 PM.
